eircom's Next Generation Broadband
eircom's Next Generation Broadband (NGB) is a faster, up to 8Mb, uncongested product (it provides consistent broadband speeds regardless of what time of day or night you are using the Internet). NGB will be available to up to 1million consumer and business customers in 2010.
Existing broadband customers in NGB enabled exchanges on 1Mb, 3Mb and 7Mb will be upgraded for free, as the programme is rolled out. Initially available in Dublin, Next Generation Broadband rollout will be expanded to all major urban areas including Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford by the end of the year.
Find out more about NGB rolloutTransforming your internet experience
NGB transforms the broadband experience for our customers, providing a superior service for higher bandwidth activities such as gaming, video streaming and video calling without the worry of buffering or congestion at peak hours. This "free flow" service gives you a dedicated lane for online activity regardless of how many friends and neighbours are online at the same time day or night.
eircom has invested €1bn over a three year period in its infrastructure, including the construction of the Next Generation Network. This very high capacity, all IP network is a key foundation for Ireland's future economic growth. It provides greater downloading capacity in anticipation of the continued growth in high bandwidth consumption from sites such as YouTube, RTE Player and other providers of online content.
